It’s a dark game… I characterize it as a lot of darkness.
– Former Los Angeles Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham, speaking on the Raiders-Chiefs rivalry.

Hue finds a home, Herrera loses his
Big mix-ups in the Raider Nation today, as longtime Raiders executive John Herrera has been let go, and former Head Coach Hue Jackson has signed with the Bengals in an assistant role.
The Herrera article is really good, so I suggest you all check it out, and obviously, I’m glad that Hue’s finally found a job/outlet for his passion for the game.

First signing of the off-season!
Brandon Underwood, DB, formerly with the Packers.
Makes sense on so many levels. Roster-replacement for Routt, former Packer… Some might joke about his past history and him going to the Raiders, but I wouldn’t—I’d call it a second chance, which is what the Raiders have always been all about. In my opinion, good, modest start for McKenzie, Allen, and co.

Briefly
Just want to say, the Raiders’ staff is coming along rather (unexpectedly) nicely… Once it’s all squared away, I’ll share my thoughts and open it up to yours as well. Soon…

SoCal Calling?
“There’s offers on the table, but I wouldn’t talk about them,” Davis said of Los Angeles. “If there was an offer that we liked, we would’ve taken it. Let me put it that way. And there’s not.”
~ Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis, on the prospect of the team moving back to Los Angeles…
Thoughts!?

Another guy who's a douchebag
ishyismagic:
Mike Silver Look man we get it, you have a man crush on Hue Jackson. That doesn’t mean that you can insult Mark Davis and call him “Tommy Boy” and question Reggie McKenzie decision making as a General Manager
Personally, I get a kick out of Silver because his opinionated and outspoken style is very Raider-like (as is his love-hate relationship with the Raiders, ironically...

A note on the coaching carousel
I know that some people (including myself) have been disappointed with the assistant coaches Allen and co. have been hiring as of late. But remember, at both the offensive and defensive coordinator positions, multiple coaches Allen tried to pursue were either denied an opportunity to interview or were just hired as Allen himself came into the job. So, yeah, it’s disappointing, but...

Dennis the Menace presser
Watching the presser after class. Here’s a live stream of my thoughts:
In case you didn’t hear it the seventeenth time, Dennis Allen is Reggie McKenzie’s “guy.”
Silver and Black tie on Allen. All-black on McKenzie. Glad to see this is, indeed, still The Black Hole.
I like how McKenzie keeps casually referring to all the reporters as “guys.” “Hey...

Allen already part of the team
How crazy is this? New Raiders Head Coach Dennis Allen and Raiders punter greatest punter of all time Shane Lechler were teammates at Texas A&M… Way to stick around, Shane… Way to move up in the world, Dennis.

Dennis the Menace is in
First there was Chucky, and now there’s Dennis—Dennis the Menace.
According to both Jay Glazer of FOX and Adam Schefter of ESPN, Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will be hired as the Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders—the first in the post-Al Davis era.
Obama’s State of the Union address is happening right now… Maybe we’ll be getting a ‘State...

UPDATED: SOMETHING "DOESN'T" HAPPEN
UPDATE: No go. A Packers site reported it, Raiders.com refuted it. End of story, literally.
McKenzie has hired another former Raider (defensive end Sean Jones, 1984-87, who also formerly worked in both the Raiders’ and Packers’ front office), to be the Robin to his Batman; in other words, for the position of assistant general manager.
A good start, but pick up the pace already! ...
